Historic Manor House Hotel re-development, Devon

The restoration, refurbishment and conversion of a historic manor house hotel into luxury apartments.

This project, supplied with cast stone by UKCSA Full Member Thorverton Stone, was a very design sensitive restoration of an 18th century building which burnt  down and was re-built in the 1820’s.  It required replacement cast stone components to many window surrounds, and in some cases complete window surrounds identical to the originals. Replacement decorative panels, plinth, string course and the replacement of a decayed brick plinth course were also supplied in cast stone.

The main challenges overcome by Thorverton were colour matching, reproducing the old profiles and making the window heads into structural units.
