High specification cast stone for elegant townhouses
Long Walk Villas is a new terrace of 9 classical townhouses in an enviable position overlooking Windsor’s Long Walk and Great Park. These stylish townhouses have elegant brick exteriors and feature extensive use of wet-cast cast stone dressings from UKCSA Full Member Haddonstone Limited.
The magnificent Long Walk Villas are set behind private electric gates and cast stone copings and metal railings topped walls, close to Windsor High Street. Each property benefits from its own private rear garden and a delightful rooftop terrace with spectacular and picturesque views over the renowned Long Walk and Windsor Castle, where the neighbours are the Royal Family.
Quintessentially British and steeped in history, Windsor is an idyllic place to live. Located within the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, in the heart of the Thames Valley, the town is surrounded by miles of beautiful countryside, yet is still within easy commuting distance of Central London.
These traditional villa style properties are being built to an extremely high specification as befits the setting, with 4/5 bedrooms, numerous reception and entertaining areas with private gardens and roof terraces – as well as secure private garaging. They are priced from £2.75m each.
Octagon have established an enviable reputation for creating elegant, award winning new homes, and these Villas are all built to Octagon’s exacting standards of quality with high levels of specification and finish using the finest materials sourced from Europe’s leading manufacturers. It is therefore no surprise that Octagon have again chosen Haddonstone Limited to supply the wet-cast cast stone needed for the project.
All properties feature classical architectural detailing with extensive use of Haddonstone’s standard and bespoke cast stonework, including impressive portico entrances, step treads, window surrounds, band courses, copings and finials. Wet-cast cast stone from Haddonstone was chosen in order to achieve the high level of finish and decorative requirements specified, with the capability of including structural reinforcement for the larger and structural units required.
Due to the site constraints, Octagon’s site manager, Mr Ron Taplin, needed to work closely with Haddonstone’s detailing, production and despatch departments to ensure that the correct cast stone items were available on site exactly when required over an approaching two year build period.
The Haddonstone cast stone dressings to the main structure were designed to be mechanically handled and installed by Ron Taplin and his bricklayers on site. However, when it came to the specialist wet-cast porticos and cast stone finishing details, Ron brought in the services of UKCSA Associate Member, PCS Stone Specialists.
PCS Stone Specialists are experienced cast stone installers, and worked closely with Haddonstone, Octagon and the structural engineers involved to ensure that the larger pieces of wet-cast cast stone, some of which weighed approaching 2.5 tonnes, could be installed safely to achieve the high level of accuracy and finish demanded by both Octagon and the project.
