Testing and Quality Control
The minimum performance standards established by UKCSA for its manufacturing Full Members are supported by rigorous testing and quality control regimes:
Cube compressive strength (submitted weekly by all UKCSA manufacturing members).
The minimum standard required of UKCSA members represents over 40% increase in compressive strength above that indicated in the British Standard for Cast Stone, BS 1217, and at least 75% above the minimum requirement in the Standard for Manufactured Stone, BS EN 771-5.
CAT (Capillary Absorption Test) for semi-dry cast stone (submitted quarterly by UKCSA semi-dry cast stone manufacturing members).
ISAT (Initial Surface Absorption Test) for wet-cast cast stone (submitted annually by UKCSA wet-cast cast stone manufacturing members).
Documented quality procedures for all UKCSA manufacturing members.
The Association's Quality Mark Scheme gives users and specifiers of cast stone further reassurance that the cast stone they are using is durable and produced to the highest standards. The UKCSA Quality Mark label on cast stone indicates that the cast stone product is manufactured to far higher quality and testing requirements than required for either cast stone to BS 1217 or for CE Marking of manufactured stone to BS EN 771-5.
Plant inspections for all new UKCSA cast stone manufacturing members.
Do not accept second best when it comes to cast stone - insist on UKCSA Quality Cast Stone!
